.kiwi FAQ

.kiwi General FAQ

Kiwi is a nickname used internationally for people from New Zealand. The word was originally derived from the Kiwi bird which is the national symbol of New Zealand. Dot Kiwi Ltd hopes that .kiwi will be a domain for New Zealand, providing a fresh, modern online identify for all Kiwis all around the world. .kiwi will benefit New Zealand brands, companies and individuals by providing greater branding creativity and an opportunity for people to differentiate themselves from competitors.

The main aim of Dot Kiwi Ltd has always been to help the city of Christchurch recover from the tragic loss of life following the earthquakes, rebuild homes and businesses, and get back on its feet financially. A percentage of Dot Kiwi's revenue and profit before tax from the sale of .kiwi domains will be donated to a trust established to provide funds for the rebuild of Christchurch. The trust will be chaired by Sir John Hansen, a former judge of the New Zealand High Court. Sir John will be accompanied by Michael E Dormer, Brad Doody and Andrew Nuttall as fellow trustees.
