What name can I register?
The domain name holder is responsible for that the domain name is not illegally based on a protected name or trademark owned by another party.
According to the Domain Name Act, names and trademarks under protection are:
- Names entered into the Finnish registers of trade, associations, foundations, or political parties;
- Trademarks entered into the Finnish or European Community Trademark Register;
- Names of a public body, unincorporated cpr144449003101 state enterprise, independent public corporation, public association;
- Names of diplomatic mission or their bodies; and
- Established names and trademarks referred to in the Business Names Act.
It is easy to check the registered names and trademarks from free, public registers on the internet.
