The .cymru name will create an exclusive presence for the Wales and the Welsh community on the internet. The dotCYM group believes that the Welsh language and culture is a community that should be identified and enhanced by having its own sponsored TLD on the Internet. The .cymru will allow organizations; companies and people that express themselves in the Welsh language and or wish to encourage Welsh culture the ability to clearly identify their association on the internet.
A top-level domain name for Wales will play a strategic role in validating Welsh culture and language in an age of increasing globalization. The success of the dotCYM campaign will unite the Welsh-speaking communities across Wales, the UK, and the rest of the world. It will also play a pivotal role in promoting future the use of the Welsh language on the internet as a modern medium of communication.
