Niue is an island country in the South Pacific Ocean, commonly known as the "Rock of Polynesia". Although it is self-governing, it lacks sovereignty and is in free association with New Zealand, which is located 1500 miles southwest. It has an estimated cpr144449003101 population of approximately 1400 people, and the official languages are Niuean and English. The Niuean economy is relatively small and relies largely on foreign aid from New Zealand. This aid however, is scheduled to decrease annually over time until Niue's economy becomes self-supporting.
