(a) Describe the mission/purpose of your proposed gTLD.
.Jetzt means "now" or "currently" in the German language, and is a string intended for the German speaking domain space. In this context we define the German speaking domain space as the space where a person or an entity desires to communicate via the domain name system to German speaking internet users. We have developed our plans with the hypothesis that these people and entities are mainly located in, or mainly wishing to communicate towards Germany and Austria.
All companies, organizations, countries, cities, municipalities, villages, groups, communities, venues and people are in need of conveying the very latest selected information in a way that makes it easier for individuals or groups to search for and share such information.
.Jetzt allows users to share the latest news at that very moment. Our goal with this TLD is exactly what ICANN advocates, i.e. to innovate and create benefits for internet users. We will simplify the process of searching for information, and will radically change the way companies and organizations plan and structure their presence on the Internet.
Moreover one of the most important and exciting parts of the New Gtld program is the possibility to provide complete online communications in the Internet users' native tongue. .Jetzt intends to offer a variety of IDNs at the second level, including of course German language at the launch. Details are provided in response to Q44. .Jetzt gives German speaking internet users the ability to communicate what's going on right now in German exclusively.
The founding team of .Jetzt has more than 30 years of combined domain name industry experience. Before starting the .Jetzt project, the founding team has successfully built a domain consulting business focused on providing domain related services to businesses. This company, Cedel AB, is now the third largest domain registrar in Sweden, and very recently has been sold to Group NBT. Before operating this business, members of the team were employed by Verisign and by other Swedish and European domain sales and internet businesses.
The experience of the founding team brings a solid understanding of the needs of the. Jetzt user. This, combined with the technical know-how of our back-end registry services provider, Neustar, Inc., will form a solid foundation to bring .Jezt to the market.

(b) How do you expect that your proposed gTLD will benefit registrants, Internet users, and others? Answers should address the following points:
i. What is the goal of your proposed gTLD in terms of areas of specialty, service levels, or reputation?
ii. What do you anticipate your proposed gTLD will add to the current space, in terms of competition, differentiation, or innovation?
iii. What goals does your proposed gTLD have in terms of user experience?
iv. Provide a complete description of the applicant's intended registration policies in support of the goals listed above.
v. Will your proposed gTLD impose any measures for protecting the privacy or confidential information of registrants or users? If so, please describe any such measures.
vi. Describe whether and in what ways outreach and communications will help to achieve your projected benefits.
i. What is the goal of your proposed gTLD in terms of areas of specialty, service levels, or reputation?
iii. What goals does your proposed gTLD have in terms of user experience?
.Jetzt registrants shall be able to create a unique and easily accessible online platform. The platform will be filled with content relating to what's going on at the moment within a business, location, or community, or current information in regards to certain concepts or issues.
The top-level domains can provide different avenues of approach. The domain address can create clear-cut communication on its own; this gives the opportunity for web designers and developers to create a unique space for what's going on right now.
Moreover, end users demand easy and quick access to information. A clear and dedicated name space creates this opportunity by the domain address alone. Demand for online real time communications is on the rise and the .Jetzt name space will provide a brandable platform where the registrant can provide their own message of what is going on right now. This creates a great opportunity to complement social media communications, as it provides a neutral platform, where you can communicate without co-branding and third party involvement.
This means that .Jetzt can complement today's social media platforms, allowing communications in limitless formats not suitable for social media platforms. It also works well within existing and future social media platforms. For example entity.jetzt can use their brandable domain space to set up a redirect to their Facebook page, Linkedin page or Twitter feed. The .Jetzt TLD is a perfect platform for modern social media communications in the German language.
The domain space is also well suited for establishing commercial platforms within the TLD. For example, company.jetzt can focus on relevant products they want to feature for the next day or week. This creates an opportunity to focus sales and marketing on relevant products and services that are subject to temporary campaigns or which the company otherwise wants to bring immediate attention. For example, gold.jetzt could be a platform for current gold prices. This same concept can of course be used for other commodities and markets, such as öl.jetzt, stats.jetzt, odds.jetzt.
ii. What do you anticipate your proposed gTLD will add to the current space, in terms of competition, differentiation, or innovation?.Jetzt aims to complement existing online platforms.
Within the German domain name space, entities communicate online through e.g. the .com, .at or .de TLDs. .Jetzt aims to complement these online spaces. One aspect of this concept is to provide a platform where the most up to date and relevant content on an entity's main website can be presented in the .Jetzt platform.
Examples of this concept can be a newspaper putting up a Wordpress blog on zeitung.jetzt, highlighting important content on their main news site. For commercial actors, this domain space can provide similar opportunities, maybe separating and highlighting certain communications from an entity's corporate website to a separate site within the. Jetzt domain space.
Besides this main objective of the .Jetzt concept there is an obvious use for campaign-based concepts. The .Jetzt space is a perfect venue for this kind of concept as well. For example, communicating last minute dinner recipes can be done to via the domain rezept.jetzt, which can work as an easy access platform for dinner recipes.
The ability to create a platform that cuts right into the core of the content presented on another already established website, as well as the possibility to use the .Jetzt space as a campaign based tool will make the .Jetzt space a welcome addition to the German domain space. It will increase the options for entities wishing to communicate in German on the internet. These underlying factors combined with the unique concept of the .Jetzt TLD leads us to believe that this proposed TLD has an obvious and long term place within the Global Internet.
iv. Provide a complete description of the applicant's intended registration policies in support of the goals listed above.
The.Jetzt TLD will be open and unrestricted, allowing anyone to select an appropriate .Jetzt domain name for their own legitimate purposes. Bad faith and other illegal uses of .Jetzt domain names will not be tolerated. The Company will implement an Acceptable Use Policy as further described in response to Question 28, and also will implement the UDRP, URS and all other ICANN-required rights protection mechanisms. Further, the Company will implement additional rights protection mechanisms as described in response to Questions 26, 28 and 29.
Premium Names/Landrush; then General Availability:
After the close of the Sunrise Period, the Company will offer a Landrush period where it will take applications for domain names. In the event more than one applicant contends for any domain during the Landrush period, applicants will be invited to participate in an auction to select the registrant of the contested name. The Company intends to reserve premium names to be held by the Company for registration at the registry's discretion while complying with the Registry Agreement. Premium names will be made available through scheduled auctions and via request for proposal processes designed to achieve the best uses of premium names, and thereby increase use, visibility and credibility of the entire registry. After the Landrush period the company intends to take an estimated ten (10) to thirty (30) day break prior to General Availability. After that break, the company will make unreserved and unregistered names generally available for open registration by any interested person or entity, on a first-come/first-served basis.

v. Will your proposed gTLD impose any measures for protecting the privacy or confidential information of registrants or users? If so, please describe any such measures.
The Company intends for users to perceive the TLD as a trustworthy indicator of the source of online information, products and services. User trust is enhanced when users are confident that their private or confidential information is securely protected. The Company intends to provide a safe and legitimate Internet space, enhancing user experience by mitigating security-associated risks. With respect to WHOIS data, The Company intends to comply with ICANN policies and otherwise to ensure that complete and accurate WHOIS information is readily accessible for every .Jetzt domain name.
The Company intends to deploy DNSSEC and to comply with all of the other policies and practices required by ICANN in the Registry Agreement and/or via any Consensus Policy. And of course, The Company complies with all applicable laws and regulations relating to internet security and the privacy of users' confidential information. Furthermore, The Company already employs commercially reasonable practices with respect to the security of online transactions and users' private or confidential information.

vi. Describe whether and in what ways outreach and communications will help to achieve your projected benefits.
Use of domains in the .Jetzt TLD will effectively outreach and communicate to the intended audience the availability of the TLD, not only for the specific purpose at hand but also for more general or intuitive purposes. For example, a user who first sees an advertisement for productname.Jetzt may later directly navigate to company.Jetzt to search for other products of the producer. Besides the Company's own specific efforts to communicate the newTLD to its intended audience, the Company expects that audience and relevant media to further communicate the TLD as they communicate about the Company, the TLD, and the many domain names, websites and services located at a .Jetzt address. As one of the first German-language gTLDs, the Company expects a substantial degree of publicity and word-of-mouth marketing within the German-speaking community.
In sum, outreach and communication are important in order to achieve the projected benefits of the TLD, but also will be inherent via use of the TLD, and further will be enhanced by the viral nature of communications about the TLD and individuals and entities who use .Jetzt domains. As it seems there will be many other new gTLDs presented to internet users, including a number of other German-language gTLDs, it is expected that the outreach, communications and media relating to each of them, individually, will lead to collective benefit insofar as many internet users will quickly grasp the concept behind these TLDs, and will expect many companies to operate them in generally consistent ways.

(c) What operating rules will you adopt to eliminate or minimize social costs (e.g., time or financial resource costs, as well as various types of consumer vulnerabilities)?
What other steps will you take to minimize negative consequences/costs imposed upon consumers? Answers should address the following points:
i. How will multiple applications for a particular domain name be resolved, for example, by auction or on a first-come/first-serve basis?
ii. Explain any cost benefits for registrants you intend to implement (e.g., advantageous pricing, introductory discounts, bulk registration discounts).
iii. Note that the Registry Agreement requires that registrars be offered the option to obtain initial domain name registrations for periods of one to ten years at the discretion of the registrar, but no greater than ten years. Additionally, the Registry Agreement requires advance written notice of price increases. Do you intend to make contractual commitments to registrants regarding the magnitude of price escalation? If so, please describe your plans.
The .JetztTLD is intended to function with leading-edge technologies and business practices, ensuring a trustworthy and positive user experience. To ensure this user experience, certain safeguards must be implemented prior to launch and throughout operation of the TLD. Precise details are set forth in answers to Questions 26, 28 and 29.
In addition, the TLD will provide an easily navigable and predictable domain name space. For example, geographicnames.Jetzt for localized websites, and product.Jetzt for websites related to products relevant to personalhealth. All of this will lessen users' confusion when interacting online.
i. How will multiple applications for a particular domain name be resolved, for example, by auction or on a first-come/first-serve basis?
The Company will offer a phased launch, consistent with many prior gTLD domain name launches. First, a Sunrise Period will be offered as required by ICANN, for trademark holders to register domain names that correspond to their marks. If there is more than one qualified Sunrise applicant, then they will be invited to participate in an auction to select the registrant of the contested name. After the close of the Sunrise Period, the Company will conduct a Premium Name Availability Period, accepting applications for registrations of any available .Jetzt domain names. In the event of more than one applicant contending for any domain during this Period, all such applicants will be invited to participate in an auction to select the registrant of the contested name. After the Premium Name Availability Period, the Company will make names generally available for open registration by any interested person or entity, on a first-come/first-served basis.
Sunrise:
The Sunrise phase will be critical in regards to reputation of a well-run top level domain. In this phase it is important to consider the trademark holders' interests, as a good impression from the brand owners will generate good PR for the TLD.
We plan for a 12 Week Sunrise -At minimum for Trademarks registered in the Trademark Clearinghouse, and registered and of national effect as of a cutoff date to be determined. In regards to trademarks, applied for string, and registered mark shall be identical in order to be eligible for sunrise registration.
Identical strings in competing applications during Sunrise shall be auctioned.

ii. Explain any cost benefits for registrants you intend to implement (e.g., advantageous pricing, introductory discounts, bulk registration discounts).
We intend to offer discounts for multiple-year domain registrations, in order to encourage longer term commitments to our registry.

iii. Do you intend to make contractual commitments to registrants regarding the magnitude of price escalation? If so, please describe your plans.
We intend to comply with the pricing restrictions required by the Registry Agreement.

We have engaged Neustar, Inc. to deliver registry services for this TLD.
This response describes protection of geographic names as implemented in the managed TLD registry service.
1. PROTECTION OF GEOGRAPHIC NAMES
a. Initial Reservation
New TLD Company A.B. is committed to complying with all of its obligations under the Registry Agreement and as such will meet its obligations to initially reserve all of the enumerated geographic names. More specifically, in accordance with Specification 5 of the Registry Agreement, the Registry Operator will initially reserve all geographic names at the second level and at all other levels within the TLD at which the Registry Operator provides for registrations.
The Company will support this requirement by using the following internationally recognized lists to develop a comprehensive master list of all geographic names that will be initially reserved:
-The 2-letter alpha-2 code of all country and territory names contained on the ISO 3166-1 list, including all reserved and unassigned codes [http://www.iso.org/iso/support/country_codes/iso_3166_code_lists/iso-31661_ decoding_table.htm];
-The short form (in English) of all country and territory names contained on the ISO 3166-1 list, including the European Union, which is exceptionally reserved on the ISO 3166-1 List, and its scope extended in August 1999 to any application needing to represent the name European Union [http://www.iso.org/iso/support/country_codes/iso_3166_code_lists/iso-31661_ decoding_table.htm#EU];
-The United Nations Group of Experts on Geographical Names, Technical Reference Manual for the Standardization of Geographical Names, Part III Names of Countries of the World. This lists the names of 193 independent States generally recognized by the international community in the language or languages used in an official capacity within each country and is current as of August 2006 [http://unstats.un.org/unsd/geoinfo/ungegn%20tech%20ref%20manual_M87_combined.pdf]; and
-The list of UN member states in 6 official UN languages prepared by the Working Group on Country Names of the United Nations Conference on the standardization of Geographical Names [http://unstats.un.org/unsd/geoinfo/UNGEGN/docs/9th-uncsgndocs/econf/9th_UNCSGN_e-conf-98-89-add1.pdf]

b. Release Mechanism
Notwithstanding the above, New TLD Company A.B. believes that the use of geographic designations in connection with .Jetzt will significantly benefit New TLD Company A.B.'s customers, end users, partners and the global Internet community in that it will assist them in locating New TLD Company A.B.'s content by physical geography. Given the goodwill of the Company itself, there is little likelihood of confusion between the second-level geographic registration and the country or country-code designation. For example, few consumers would be confused that us.Jetzt is associated with the country-code TLD of the United States administered by the United States Department of Commerce. Therefore, although the geographic names will initially be reserved, New TLD Company A.B. does believe that at the appropriate time, certain geographic names should be able to be released from reservation.
This is especially true of the two character second level domain names. New TLD Company A.B. recognizes that there have been several successful and non-misleading use of two character second level names by TLD operators such as AA.com, ge.com, and my.biz, to name a few. In the event that New TLD Company A.B. wishes to use the two-character strings, or any other geographically reserved names, for its own purposes related to the mission of the TLD, New TLD Company A.B. shall propose to ICANN the release of such strings in accord with the Registry Agreement.
